Gas Rate Filings

Over the past few years we have seen inflationary pressure on many operating expenses, including materials, financing, and labor costs. In addition, CoServ’s service area continues to grow at a rapid pace, meaning there are more costs associated with providing our customers with safe, reliable gas service. However, while we have filed a Statement of Intent to Increase Gas Rates, our prices will still be lower than the other natural gas providers in North Texas.

WHAT: CoServ Gas has filed a Statement of Intent to Increase Gas Utility Rates with the municipalities it serves and the Railroad Commission of Texas.

WHY: The increase can be attributed to the increased growth and inflation of prices in overall capital investment and operating expenses since the last rate filing in November of 2020.

HOW MUCH: The average monthly bill for residential CoServ Gas Customers will see an increase of just over $5 per month – about 5% higher. Commercial and public authority Gas Customers will experience between a 2% and 5% percent increase, on average.

  • Residential - How much is this going to cost? - The customer charge will increase from $15 to $18 and the base usage rate will increase from $0.12097 to $0.1401 (1.9 cents per Ccf increase). The amount of change in your bill will vary depending upon the amount of gas that you use.
  • Commercial: How much is this going to cost? - The customer charge will increase by $35 to $40 and the base usage rate will increase from $0.06479 to $0.0851 (just over 2 cents per Ccf). The amount of change in your bill will vary depending upon the amount of gas that you

WHEN: The CoServ Gas rate increase request was filed on Friday, July 28, 2023. The rate increase will go into effect February 1, 2024.

HOW THE REQUESTED RATE COMPARES TO COMPETITORS’ RATES: If approved, the CoServ Gas rate will still be less than that of other natural gas distributors in North Texas, including Atmos Energy.
