Rush Hour Rewards
Want to use less electricity and get paid for it?
With CoServ’s Rush Hour Rewards, Members who have Google Nest thermostats can sign up for the program and earn a bill credit of $10 a month from June to September. That’s an extra $40 in your pocket every summer you participate!
Here’s how it works:
- CoServ calls Rush Hour Reward events on days when electricity demand is expected to be highest, typically between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
- Nest will notify you a minimum of one hour before the event.
- Events may consist of a pre-cooling period to make your home more comfortable and a period of time when your energy usage is reduced.
- Remember: You always have control over your thermostat and can adjust it at any time.
Why is it important?
Wholesale electricity costs are typically highest during the hottest part of the day. Higher power costs are passed on to Members’ future electricity bills through the PCRF. By shaving load during this “energy rush hour,” CoServ buys less wholesale power when prices are highest, saving the co-op and you, money.
